Cake Bunting

Cake bunting is very useful as it can jazz up any simple cake and make it look like it took you hours to make (which it probably did, but we want people to know that!) I had never before made cake bunting in my life, but I had always stumbled across it when scrolling through pinterest. I never realised that it was so simple to make. Do not be fooled though, just because it is simple doesn't mean it will be quick!

You will need:

  • Scissors

  • Glue (hot glue would be best, but I only had a glue stick)

  • cake bunting template - http://www.yellowblissroad.com/printable-chalkboard-alphabet-cake/

  • wooden skewers (i used two wooden knitting needles) paper straws are also a good alternative

  • string

  • ribbon

The first step is to decide the words that will be displayed on the bunting. Doing this first means that the correct number of letters is known. Next print out your template, the number of times you print it out depends on the frequency of the letters. Next careful cut out each letter and set aside.

Fold the letter in half to create a crease, do this to all the letters and set aside.

Next, tie the string to each skewer in order to determine the length. Then glue on the letters by placing the crease where the string is and gluing the two ends together. You may want to try setting them on first without gluing in order to get the right positioning.

Tie some ribbons on the skewers in order to hide where the string has been tied. Then stick into a cake, cupcakes or even a pie if you want!
